Question:
I am a new runner, joined the team and practicing for the San Jose Rock n Roll HM. I ran 4 miles on july17th and felt energetic and good. No complaints. Last week (24th July) I ran 5 miles in Gold Street Trail. I initially felt some pain on my left feet and thought could be some problem with my shoe lace (probably tightly tied). After a mile I started feeling pain on my left leg – Not in any particular place but the entire leg was paining. something like a pulling pain on my nerve. After coming home and resting it became good. Today while walking (casual walk) I felt the same type of pain first on my feet and my entire leg started paining though it didn’t pain much like the other day.
Has anyone felt like this. What could be the reason and how to avoid this? Any suggestions..
Answer:
May be your leg muscles are getting tight. Some suggestions:
Before start running, spend 10-15 mins in warming up and stretching neck, shoulders, hip, legs, and foot.
Ice your muscle strain as explained here
