5)Introduction of Chief Guest by Karunakaran Palanisamy – 6.30 PM.
Karunakaran introduced the chief guest, Mr. Sridhar Krishnamoorthy Co-Founder of Sankara Eye Foundation. Karunakaran   presented bio data of Mr.Sridhar. Some highlights:
Studied from IIT, Madras on 1980.
Moved to bay area on 1990.
Working as Sr.Manager in INTEL, Santa Clara.

6)Speech by Chief Guest Mr. Sridhar Krishnamoorthy – 6.40 PM.

• He welcomed all team members, said thanks to Karunakaran for the introduction.
• He said “Strength must come to nation through by education – by vivekananda”.
• He also said “The difference from developed countries and undeveloped countries is only Education”. As Team is helping to improve education in India, it really good for our growth.
• He also quoted one school head master’s sayings “Team money is start for the school, not an end”.
• He said, “Team should think about people to join from India also,because people are going back”.
• He gave more information about Sankara Eye Foundation, how it helps people in India.
• Rural outrage is big in Sankara Eye Foundation. SEF branches will be opened all over India before 2020 to cure all blinds.
• He also said “Together (SEF & Team) we can achieve lot more and learn from each other”.
• He pointed out the following statistics.

Indian education ratio is 55.8%.
In Tamil Nadu 2000 education ratio is 65 %.
In Tamil Nadu 2001 education ratio is 74 %.

8)Karthikeyan Easwaramoorthy – Told us Team Achievement in year 2003 – 7.10PM.

• He introduced himself, he lives in Fremont.
• Proud member of team for four (4) years.
• November 8, 2003 meeting is the last meeting for year 2003.

• He also said from today in ten (10) years team should have members from all over the world. In Tamil Nadu we should touch all schools in ten years.
• Team Vision ” LIFT THE SOCEITY BY EDUCATION”

Karthikeyan Easwaramoorthy answered a few questions from the participants regarding Team’s current and future planned activities.

a) When to stop the membership?
i) New members will go into statewide chapter. In Jan 2004, we will have chapters in India, USA.
b) How to make sure money is going to proper schools?
i) Team members must follow the guidelines.
ii) Team gives $500 and trusts the members as they are the best judge in deciding to which school the money can be donated.
iii) No one has authority to hire or fire any one.
iv) If you don’t know the school please give the money to any friends,who know the correct school or India team will help you to select the school for you.
c) What is the way to publicize the team?
i) We have proved ourself, so now we can publicize team.
ii)Put board in school to publicize in India.
d) Tips given by Team member father to get money from project manager in Tamil Nadu in collector Office with a ration of 1 by 3 – For more info contact him at(408)-252-6989
e) What kind of things we do for schools?
i) How to monitor the progress?
ii) We need stage for all the work. TEAM is the stage.
f) Can we recruit and provide good teacher for schools?
i) Members are the best judge to decide what they can do for their school.If they feel that the school needs a good teacher they are encouraged to recruit a teacher for the school.
g) What are the companies that provide gift matching for our donation?
i) As of now SUN, HP, CISCO, and MICROSOFT provide gift matching
Note: We have developed the software for TEAM. Its developed by “Team soft software team”.From the software we can get the status any time. Every member will get one login ID, to get the status of the team.

Second course consists of Vegetable Pulav, Tomato Rice, Lemon Rice,Curd Rice.
Third course was mouth-watering dessert items such as Ice Cream, Cakes and other desserts.

Dear TEAM,

The meeting started at around 12:30 with a prayer song by Shruthi.

Rajasekar Nallamuthu welcomed the TEAM members, Chief Guest, and parents and relatives of TEAM members present. He also mentioned that he was introduced to TEAM by member Karunakaran Palanisamy.

Prabhu Venkatesh, introduced himself as a new member.Further he mentioned that, TEAM provided him an opportunity to give back to the Society a little, as we take a lot from Society and doing a social service gives a lot of satisfaction.He is also a member of other social organisations and he is very much interested in such activities.Further as TEAM addresses the issue at Grass Root level, it motivated him to become a member of TEAM

Loganathan Palanisamy introduced the chief guest, Ms.Vetri Selvi Rajamanickam, President of California Tamil Academy. He mentioned that, her father Mr S.Madhavan was ex Law Minister during Mr Annadhrai’s period. She is actively invovled in various social organizations working towards upliftment of rural students at Tamil Nadu.

Ms Vetri Selvi stressed the importance of social service organizations like TEAM by providing the following statistics. There are about 24000 panchayat union schools in Tamil Nadu. 90% of govt expenditure is spent on salary of govt. employees and only 10% of the revenue is spent on all kinds of welfare activities. Further on a national level , nearly 60% goes towards salary and only 40% is spent towards development projects. Hence, she stressed the fact that, voluntary organizations are the best hope to uplift the status of the country. She also mentioned about an organization which provides basic, Sanitary facilities at schools. Because of lack of toilets at schools, the possibilities of health problems at an adult age are more for young girls from such environments. She suggested that TEAM can also work towards such initiatives.

After that, a small memento was presented to Chief Guest by Kumarappan

Devarajan shared his experience about the project work done. His experience “I received the check in 2 weeks after the school selection. I called my father and people back at home got excited and contacted the Head Master of a govt. school of 1000 student strength. HM was happy to accept the proposal and asked himself, about what do they need. He came up with a list such as Repairing Floor, Black Board and School Walls. The budget exceeded the amount provided by TEAM. Many of my friends got excited by the project and provided funds almost equal to the amount provided by TEAM. So it is a pleasant experience and the satisfaction was immense pleasure.

Games were conducted for kids first. All kids were excited and eagerly involved in all the games. Then fun programs were conducted for adults. Everyone enjoyed their time a lot. It was simply Fun !!! Fun !!! Fun !!! everywhere.

Senthil narrated the history of TEAM, the primary objectives and how it evolved as a Non-Profit organization. Presented the members with Team Growth Chart. Thanked the Key members behind the scene who did the Logo (Udai Baskar) and the Web site (Kumar Rethi, Karthik, Srini, Sudha, Sakthi and Vimala).

Thoughts about TEAM : Karthikeyan Chelladurai

Karthikeyan Chelladurai shared his thoughts about TEAM with all the TEAM members. He said he was attracted to join TEAM because of its primary objective – helping under privileged students and economically poor rural schools in India. Also told that we need to educate people to be aware of population growth which is root cause for many problems in India.

Kanadasamy Nachimuthu indroduced cheif guest Dr.Savitha Krishnan and told the members how privileged we were to have have her as the chief guest.

Chief Guest Address : Dr.Savitha Krishnan

Dr. Savitha Krishnan who did her Medicine in Michigan and currently working in Palo Alto Medical Foundation addressed the group about Preventive care and comparative study of Eastern vs. Western Medicines. She gave a valuable speech about ‘Women preventive care’ and how we have to educate everyone about Preventive Care.

Presentation of Memento to Chief Guest: Varsha

The Chief Guest was honored by presenting a Memento from TEAM members. Varsha, Ravikumar’s daughter gave the memento to the chief guest.

HUNDI : Saravanakumar

Saravanakumar presented TEAM members with the Financial Statement for the year Jan 2002 to Dec 2002. Also explained the purpose of having Hundi and collected money to meet the expenses of Hall rent etc.

General :

Padma Prakash shared her experiences with all TEAM members about what she did with the Money she received from TEAM. Very useful for the people are joined newly to TEAM!

Kandasamy Nachimuthu did a video presentation which gave an insight to all TEAM members about the activities of TEAM in India. One picture is equivalent to one thousand pages of literature and that was what the video presentation achieved.

Dear TEAM,

The Tenth TEAM meeting went very well on 5th October 2002. The meeting commenced around 5.30 PM, in Fremont Hindu Temple’s Children’s Hall Fremont, CA.

Around 170 members participated in the TEAM meet.

Welcome Song: Welcome song was sung by Selvi. Savitha.

Welcome Address: Mr.Muralidharan welcomed the TEAM members. He mentioned that TEAM is one of the ways to express thanks to our Motherland.

General Topic: Mr. Jayashankaran talked about TEAM’s unique structure in which everybody contributes and participate equally. Mr. Arun Athiappan mentioned that Utilization of our own money for our own schools gets us complete satisfaction. He also requested members to look out ways for TEAM to grow more and become powerful organization.

Introduction of Chief Guest: Mr. Balaraman talked about Mr. Chandrasekar’s contributions to several orphanages, Medical needs and schools.

Chief Guest: Mr. Chandrasekar expressed his opinions on educating the children population along with the provision of all the facilities. He also extended his thoughts on focusing our goals and motivation reaching the children by doing the measurements based on education rather than providing facilities.

Fund Collection: collected by Ms. Vimala and Mr. Karthik Somasundaram for meet expenses. Thanks to all the members for their generality.

Project Update and Execution Methods : Senthil KS presented the projects report to the TEAM Members. Details are as follows.

24 schools get $12,000 in total ($500 for each school). Team sends a check to each member who has been selected. TEAM has been registered as non-profit organization for 2 years. It has 326 members. 124 schools have been given $500 each so far (which adds up to a total of $62000/ RS.29,75,000)·

67 projects executed successfully. 57 projects in execution.

General Topic: Karthikeyan Eswaramoorthy extended his thoughts on leadership. He talked about achieving the leadership to execute the role like our team coordinators as small leaders.

Food was really great with lot items, TEAM thanks for all the members for bringing delicious food.

The Ninth TEAM meeting went very well on 4th May 2002. The meeting commenced around 12.30 PM, in Elizabeth Park/Central Park in Fremont, CA.

Around 135 members participated in the TEAM meet.

The welcome song was sung by Swathi Rammohan. Elango Periyathambi welcomed the TEAM members.

Saravanan Nagaraju shared his experience and difficulties in enrolling new members for TEAM 2002.

Chandra Suresh had brought out an exciting idea of Creating Items Template and Preferred Vendor List. This suggestion will help the members with guidelines for purchase activities more economically,and also help to get more items out of TEAM contributed money.

The purchase items can be divided into (Template) three different categories.

– Large Value items (Construction Activities)

– Medium Value items (Furnishing Items)

– Small Value items (Eating plates, writing materials etc.)

By transacting with the preferred Vendors, the template items can be purchased at more attractive price.

Thamari Selvan had published the TEAM’s communication magazine, he also acknowledged the TEAM member?s contribution to the magazine and he also emphasized the benefits of material contribution by the way of poems,stories and essays etc.

Karthikeyan Eswaramoorthy clarified some of the doubts of the TEAM memebers. He also popularized the 4E-concept amongst the TEAM members. 4E stands for ‘Enhancing Educational Environment Everywhere’.

The Vote of thanks was delivered by Arun Athippan. He thanked all TEAM members and TEAM Coordinators for the sucessful conduct of the meeting with his own punch by delivering short and effetive messages.

Food, was really great with lot of vegetarian & Non-vegetration items, TEAM also thanks for members for bringing delicious food.

This time fun events conducted by Sridhar,Divakaran, Abirami, Sudhakar & team was really interesting, everyone had good time by participating in “Satti Odaithal” , tug of war between Sunnyvale verus Fremont area members, and group mingling game.

Dear TEAM,

Our 8th TEAM meeting was a great success as usual, meeting was started around 12.15 PM on Jan 26th 2002 at Fremont Temple, CA, compeered by Brindha Kumar.

Welcome Song was sung by Savitha (daughter of Senthil & Sakthi) and Rammohan Krishnan welcomed the Team members.

Over 100 members attended the Team meet.

Karthikeyan Eswaramoorthy briefly talked about the TEAM’s history, what we have done and how the schools are benefiting etc. Team magazine was distributed to new Team members. It was a great work and Team appreciates the effort put on the Magazine preparation by Thamarai Selvan and group.

New Team members were introduced by their coordinators.

Finance:

Finance statement for the period of Nov’00 – Jan’02 was read by S. R. Karthikeyan.

Income: 26801.75, Expenditure: 23840.59, Balance: 2961.16

As Team has received Tax exemption status, Vimala/coordinators will distribute the receipts to Team members for claiming in the tax filing. This time Brindha and Kandy had brought $100 from Intuit as a dollar to dollar matching. Vimala Moorthy has suggested that interested team members can approach their employers to see whether they have any such programs.

We need more volunteers to help finance department as we are growing big.Volunteers, please contact Team treasurer Vimala Moorthy.

Project Execution & Web Updations:

As we have grown to 300 members now, it has been decided that the TEAM meet will takeplace for every 4 months instead of 3 months. It is expected that the selected team members will execute their projects within the next 3-4 months time frame. Please send your project execution details to the TEAM Data center after executing the projects. Send the details like Receipts, Photos, Headmaster letter etc. Even if you don’t have receipts please send a memo, so the details will be updated in our TEAM website www.indiateam.org. We have executed 62 school projects in India so far, approximately 6200 students were benefited. This is a great success within the 2 years time.

Dear TEAM,

Following the success of sixth meeting of TEAM, the Seventh TEAM meeting held on 20th October 2001 turned to a great successul one.

On the pleasant evening,compered by Uma the meeting started at 6.30 PM with the prayer song by Amlu. It was followed by welcome speech by Anbu Gounder. He welcomed the gathering and introduced Sutha SivaSubramanian (Regular Host, FM 90.1, Mostly Tamil Programme) special guest of the day to the TEAM.

There was a wonderful video presentation of TEAM projects in India. Interviews with school headmasters and people from the villages proved that TEAM’s goal has reached the right destination. Many thanks to the team of members who worked on this video presentation.

Ravikumar presented the TEAM activities. The chart listed with highlights of TEAM activities was distributed to all.

Radhakrishnan delivered a speech about ‘Social Activities & Services’. He said that every individual has a basic helping tendency, which is getting chanalized thru TEAM. Our money reaches to the right people and all our efforts in this should be appreciated.

Chief guest Sutha SivaSubramanian – Mostly Tamil host – delivered a nice speech. He insisted that even though we are away from our home, we want to build some good things back for our home and TEAM’s effort in this should be appreciated. He brought up the concept of Navarathri, where the 9 days were dedicated equally to courage, wealth and education. “At the end of these 9 days do we have the courage to help others for education?” – was the message put forth by him.

Karthikeyan delivered vote of thanks. He said that TEAM is a place for accumulating knowledge and it is the only opportunity where happiness is achieved by giving something to others instead of getting something back.

Dear team

On a sunny afternoon, it was really enchanting to gather at the Elizabeth park, Fremont CA for a noble cause – the sixth meeting of TEAM, Saturday, July 28 2001.

Meeting commenced at around 12.30 PM with approximately 100 people.The compeer Mahalakshmi started the meeting, followed by Mr.Rajasekar welcoming the gathering and introducing the guest of honor Dr.Ayee.

It was followed by TEAM magazine release, with Bala Nachimuthu handing over the first copy to Thamarai Selvan. Magazine has been scripted in Tamil in its entirety and kudos to Thamarai Selvan for he had keyed-in every word of the magazine.

“Share your thoughts and creative ideas”-was what Mr.Thamarai selvan emphasized in his speech. He insisted on taking TEAM to everyone who deserves benefits from TEAM.

Mr.Palanisamy who executed the Pethambalayam project at the school site shared his experience. He briefed out the flow in the project execution with special mention about the people who on their own will, worked for the project expecting nothing. It is to his credit that the project was successfully implemented bringing about smiles to every student’s face..

Radhakrishnan gave the memento of the sixth meeting to Dr.Ayee.

It was then over to Dr.Ayee -the guest of honour. He appreciated TEAM for embarking upon a noble objective and wished TEAM for its growth. He said “Every big thing starts small” and that impact of TEAM in schools is remarkable, creating a sparkle in students’ eyes. He talked about success as achieving without losing identity as it is important to enjoy success. He continued about integrating into society and the need for perfect infrastructure and system to operate successfully.

As part of TEAM, contibutions are made expecting nothing in return, but its TEAM nature to thank and appreciate.

So much thanks are due to Kandasamy, karthikeyan Easwaramoorthy, Ravikumar, UdayaBaskar, SR karthikeyan,Sudhakar & Vijay for reserving the parks grounds so early by 5am.

The fifth Quarterly TEAM meeting held on the 21st April 2001 went on in a more formal presentation than the usual as requested by the members. The meeting stared exactly at 6.00 P.M and was compeered by Hemalatha.

Karthikeyan Easwaramoorthy delivered the welcome address adding a brief introduction about the TEAM.

The project status report was updated by Senthil Subramaniam there by explaining the details about the number of projects that are completed. Till date 20 projects have been completed. Project in six other schools are in progress.

During the course of this meeting the members who have executed the school projects were given an opportunity to share their experience about the Developments made in their respected schools. Ramki Natesan,Murugeshan Mohan,Karuppusamy, Sugeerthi Loganathan,Karthekeyan Ramasamy and Thamarai Selvan added their reports about their completed projects.

The meeting went on with Pravin Balasubramaniam giving the details about the website development and thanking Kannan for his assistance in the web page development.

VimalaMoorthy presented the financial status report explaining the expenditure details.

The rent for the clubhouse paid by the contributions of the members present in the meeting.

Karthikeyan provided the necessary feedback by answering the questions and doubts from various other members. He added that he is ready to clear any other doubts and asked the TEAM members it contact him through his email address.

Following the feedback was the school selection. The schools were selected by Lot system as usual the kids were more than ready to pick the lots.

Around 7.15 P.M Dinner was served. Thanks to Latha Kandasamy for preparing the menu and organizing the food items therefore the food was enough to everyone present in the meeting.

As the meeting was planned before in an organized fashion there was enough time to conduct the Arattai Arangam. Dr. Krishnamoorthy judged the program.

The topic selected being Vazhivil sirantha / Sonthosamana days – Bachelor or family life.

Each participant was given 15 min to talk. They were given the option of speaking 15 minutes at a time or splitting the time in two intervals as per their convenience.

Udhaya Baskar was given the opportunity to give a introduction to the topic. He then continued to speak in the favor of bachelor life.

Thamarai Selvan who?s shared his views that only married life is more enjoyable succeeded him.

Karthikeyan Easwaramoorthy Spoke for both sides and later concluded his views that family life is more joyous than bachelor life. Later the participants were given another chance to stress their points.

In the end Dr. K.K. Krishanamoorthy passed the judgment as the family life to be the sirantha Sonthosamana Days.

Concluding his speech, Mr. K.K. Krishnamoorthy appreciated the efforts taken my TEAM members providing education for the Poor. He further gave his support by coming forward to donate some books for these schools in the future if needed. Dr. K.K. Krishnamoorthy was an instant hit with the Crowd. The members clearly enjoyed having been able to hear his thoughts and justify his vies. Hoping to hear more from such experienced senior persons in the future meeting.

The meeting was over by 10.15 P.M. In a nutshell the TEAM meeting was conducted in an organized manner that enabled us to go through all the business at hand within the time schedule.

Hello Everyone,

Its been more than 10 months since TEAM was formed and it was our 4th quarterly meet. It was held on Jan 6th 2001 @ Vineyard Club House, Fremont, CA. This was the first meet for our 2nd batch – 2001 batch members and everyone was excited to be there and it was attended by more than 150 people.

Though we were planning to start at 6:00pm, as proud Indians do, we finally were able to start between 6:30~6:45pm. Karthi Eswaramoorthy started out the meeting, briefed about the TEAM history, philosophy, what we believe as TEAM and activities of the TEAM. At end of his brief, we went to School Selection Program by lot. We selected 8 members who will be executing the projects on behalf of the TEAM for the next 3 months ( under usual circumstances we would have selected 12 schools, since we had to cover the TEAM incorporated expenses, it was decided to help only 8 schools for this period). Thanks to Vimala Murthy for collecting the checks from co-ordinators.

Then it was time for Kids Dance program which was suggested by Kandy Nachimuthu and arranged by Sumathi Ramki. It was very lovely and entertaining to see all the kids dancing, audience were so impressed with their performance. Special thanks to Sumathi for marking this program very enjoyable. By the time dance program was completed it was almost 8:45 pm, everyone was so hungry, then there was the huge buffet ever made in the bay area ( pot luck from the fellow members ).

Since we ran out of time, we had to cancel the arattai arangam and couldn’t thank the individuals who were helping out to make this TEAM meet a memorable one ! So here goes the list:

• Sumathi Ramki for her 1 month contribution for the kids dance program
• Thamaraiselvan who initiated the ‘arattai arangam’ idea and later cancelled due to lack of time
• Srinivasan for Video and photo coverage
• Murugean Mohan who brought his Father-in-law to be the judge for the ‘arattai arangam’
• Brindha and Chithrabanu for arranging food
